Introduction
Millions of children worldwide are prevented by their poverty from ever visiting a school [1, 2, 3]. Instead, many of them have to work very hard at a young age [4] have to prostitute themselves, turn to crime, or are sent to adultsÂ’ wars as child soldiers!
How we would like to help all these children! But we have to be realistic. Our powers are only sufficient to try to make ‘Harriet’s dream’ become reality: To afford school education and professional training to the children of Bukom, a town quarter of the Ghanaian capital Accra, and to support them to the extent that they will find a good life perspective in their own country.
Education is the key that can be used to open the door for these children! For girls and boys, on their own continent, in their own country. An entrance to a life without poverty, to a life full of pride, dignity and self-confidence!
But there are still more than 600 children on the waiting list. But HarrietÂ’s dream persists: to help as many poor children from Bukom [5, 6] as possible!
