Football!
Football - Goals for the education?
That the issue of education in the Ghanaian Government is not obvious at first place, already shows the necessity of the project "African Angel" for the children of Bukom. Is it any wonder if they are on-and off dreams of children from disadvantaged groups to almost 100 percent just a twist: to become a famous football player who deserves a lot of money abroad and in Ghana, a gold Rolex on the wrist, a beautiful woman in the arm in a great Mercedes drove around.
The dream of the poor neighborhoods
Our sponsors are confronted first hand with the dream of their children, because there almost every boy from Bukom him in the first consultations. Only later, in the further progress of their 'education career' open up for them, the other perspectives: teacher, lawyer / attorney, doctor, media or IT professions, etc. In the period until then were our Angel-African children - among whom There are always many gifted talents movement - but delivered to the insinuations and tempting offers of professional football people Dealer almost defenseless. These modern traffickers populate '' public football and school places in search of a suitable 'human material' for the common lower division leagues. With promises of great wealth and fame in the Black Star team, they lure the children away from schools in an uncertain future. For the services of Angel African education these children are then lost, of course, because instead of work and discipline promised by the dealer in Accra quick and easy money. The fact that this mesh not only in Africa draws, shows us all so the example in our American Idol!
Harriet's worst fear comes true!
Always wearing the club founder, this fear to their boys in the heart and during their stay in Accra in 2009, it was done: One of the children did not return in the evening from school! Immediately launched a search operation confirmed their fears: The child had been geshanghait by a professional football scout ''. Harriet fought like a lioness in the coming hours the boy and succeeded, with whatever means, to bring the child back into the African fishing back home. After the initial excitement subsided, it was clear that something would happen again and again and they would not be able to preserve the still fragile children from it. That they had neither the time nor resources. But Harriet had an idea for the future!
African Angel is school ... Football school!
If even our schools may exclude the modern Pied Piper of their pitches, then African Angel itself provide the solution and guarantee a solid and controlled football talent training in their 'dream job'. Thus the children would receive in addition to their normal education career also a football training, are not being prevented by their dream in their normal school run. No sooner said than done. An ad in the Daily Graphic was switched quickly and 10 candidates for the post of a football and sports trainer arrived to interview.
For this you need to know that most football coaches in Ghana are unemployed, the job forced to make the volunteer. A paid job as a football coach is therefore almost the exception. The choice then fell on Mr. Kennedy Sarpong, since one part of our football talents professionally trained [1] and on Saturdays in the morning, the entire home, including supervisors, the move brings the other. Youth football in Ghana - without public support!
Unlike in Germany, where the area of youth football in the organizing responsibilities of country football federations is (in NRW as the West German Football and Athletics Association in Duisburg), has the area youth football in Ghana does not even begin to have a similar infrastructure. There is a lack of everything to offer the appropriate junior development opportunities. No seats, no coaches, no means of transport etc.
Here, as in education, usually have only half the affluent access to those opportunities. Why is this so? With youth football in Ghana Cedi to earn no! So there is also nothing invested. Against this background, the 'cry for help' of the Regional Football Association for financial support of the so-called Colt teams (youth football team is to be understood) in the country. The association chairman, Alhaji Yahaya said Daudi, individual supporters, all non-governmental organizations, politicians, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, the Metro Mass Transit network and all charitable organizations to urgently to support the Youth of Ghana.
African Angel - even in youth sports class!
This call is not known African Angel when it was begun to install the football promotion program. Nevertheless, the association also sets the benchmark here.
Under the guidance of the trainer in the meantime were four youth teams:
| Class Ghana | NRW class | African Angel / Other |
|---|---|---|
| U 10 | F-Juniors | 18 / 0 |
| U 12 | D-Juniors | 5 / 13 |
| U 14 | C-Juniors | 3 / 15 |
| U 17 | B-Juniors | 2 / 16 |
Schnell said about our workers around too, that in a real Angel African football training was offered and promptly requests came from other poor areas, such as Teshie. Since, for the African children fishing alone no Colt four teams could be made to us was to step out of the neighborhood is welcome. So now teams play only four African fishing success in youth football field and African Angel, the existing infrastructure (including transport) and other disadvantaged groups to make accessible. A second benefit is this for rejoins the children from the slums: they get before and after the game a decent meal. Football for girls - our next challenge!
Harriet Harriet would not have if it had not even thought of the situation of girls. Traditionally they play in Ghana but rather Ampe (traditional girls' competition), volleyball or handball! In response to its urgent call to the coach, but is now also increasingly in the construction of an African Angel working girls soccer team. Naturally, this task is made more difficult, but now there is already a basic team of 15 girls (five African Angel / 10 Teshie), which will hopefully make a successful and powerful team.
And certainly they will want to emulate the boys - the win that is almost any of their games!
