The Book!

African-Angel - Change the world with 50 Cent

‚African Angel – 50 Cents to change the world’ is the title of the book telling the story of Harriet Bruce-Annan’s life. It was published in Germany in October 2009. In May 2009, the author Beate Rygiert visited the African Angel cottage in Accra for a week, to have a detailed final discussion of the book with Harriet. Her visit also gave her a first-hand impression of the children’s lives. That is how the book got its finishing touch.

The book appears at Lübbe-Verlag. Happy reading.

Harriet Bruce-Annan from the Berlin Senate for Migration Conference invited

"WISSEN WANDERT" was the title under which between 16 and 17 April 2008 in Berlin a conference on the role of knowledge in international migration took place. The participants were extensively and came from all continents. The chairman of the Association African Angel eV reported in her talk about her own experiences in Germany, where the skills of the home countries of migrants are often not recognized and would not even recognize most of [1].

For example, in Dusseldorf from a Ghanaian first computer programmer a cleaning woman and a toilet and then the successful founder and chairman of a non-governmental organization in the children's education. This potential was, however, in their new home country (Germany) neither recognized nor used [2].

The great emotion put forward with memoirs of Harriet Bruce-Annan delivered to the participants during the break certainly plenty of material for discussion and gave the representatives of bureaucracy and politics hopefully food for thought [3] with Harriet, Sarpong, Schrenk). The full conference report with the contributions of all speakers is now available and can be read the following link on: www.sid-berlin.de (PDF)
